Improving safety while saving time using specialised AI
MedEye began around 2010 as Mint Solutions, founded by Gauti Reynisson and Ivar Helgason to tackle one of the riskiest moments in care: medication administration at the bedside. The core idea was to use visual recognition and software integration to help nurses verify that a patient is getting the right medication, in the right dose, at the right time, rather than relying only on barcodes and manual checks. An early milestone came in 2011, when the first MedEye scanners were delivered for testing, showing that the company had moved from concept into real hardware development.
Over the next few years, the company turned that concept into a deployable product. MedEye’s first medication scanner went into use in a Dutch hospital in 2015. By 2018, MedEye had checked more than 1 million medication doses since its launch and had expanded across hospitals in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Since then, MedEye has evolved from a single bedside scanner into a broader medication safety suite that includes products for nurses, patients, and clinicians.
More recently, MedEye has continued expanding in the Netherlands and beyond: in 2024 it announced both a hospital-wide implementation at Zuyderland Medical Center and new growth capital to support further expansion into Scandinavia and Belgium.
Backed by long term investors and an outstanding development team, MedEye is expanding across Europe.
